She wanted to write a book about the rich history of African Americans who contributed to the development and quality-of-life of Reston, VA. In total the project highlighted over 100 people.

Case Study: George Shirley Vocal Competition

georgeshirleycompetition.org

The George Shirley Vocal Competition is an annual competition held at The University of Michigan that focuses on preservation, education and exploration of African American vocal repertoire written by composers of the African Diaspora. The competition started as a vision of the award-winning operatic tenor, George Shirley, to educate students in the Detroit school system about this unique repertoire.

I was tasked with the capturing the competition through photography and video for the first time professional. The video would be used to fundraise and educate the public about this project. My work helped to later set the visual foundation for the logo, website and all branding and advertising materials for future competitions.
